Pre-operative tests will depend on your medical history and personal habits. All candidates traveling from the US to undergo surgery with our team in Torreon, Coahuila will need to fulfill all requirements, including extensive evaluation by our surgical team, Nutritionist and Psychologist.
This assessment consists of 4 stages:
1. Initial Assessment
2. Studies Laboratory
3. Hospitalization and Bariatric Surgery
4. Monitoring Program
The first set of lab tests will be ordered and performed in your hometown, then forwarded to our team in Mexico. You will need to visit in person with our specialists in Cardiology and Pneumology, and undergo any additional tests that our team might request. Some you will take at home, prior to your trip. Others you will undergo once you arrive in Torreon. After we begin your patient evaluation, our team will direct you on all aspects and details of needed procedures
Step by Step patient information
1. Initial Evaluation
After arriving at the Clinic, you will be welcomed by our Patient Coordinator, Lucero Tabares. She will explain the cost of each procedure in detail.
You will then meet Dr. Roberto Bernal or Dr. Victor de la Peña. They will evaluate your case, go over your responsibilities and rights as a patient, and explain your surgical options. The doctor will review your evaluations to make sure every aspect of your pre-operative testing is cleared, and you can continue to surgery.
Once you’ve fulfilled all necessary requirements and agreed to all terms and conditions, you will be sent to the Emergency Room to get your medical history recorded (PHD assigns) and a set of laboratory tests.
Then you will meet with our nutritionist. She will develop a diet plan in order to maximize your success.
Finally, you will have two sessions with our psychologist to evaluate your emotional state.
After undergoing a full evaluation, our team will decide if you are a candidate for surgery, and what type of procedure would be best for you. On your second visit with our coordinator, your evaluation results will be fully explained and we will let you know if everything is within normal ranges. You will then move into the second stage.

2. Lab Tests
After your medical history has been elaborated the following lab tests and evaluations are ordered:
• Spirometry
• Thorax Plate
• Electrocardiogram
• Cardiovascular evaluation by Dr. Hector Bayardo
• Neumological evaluation by Dr. Antonio Padua
Aiming to ensure success, our nutritionist create for our patients a pre-operative diet. Once all results and evaluations are reviewed, we will decide on the best procedure for you and assign a date for the surgery.

3. Hospitalization and Bariatric Surgery
At this stage we proceed to carry out the selected bariatric surgery, hospitalization costs are valid thru October 31, 2008, are in US Dollars and include Taxes and medical fees:
- Gastric Band $ 8,634.00
- Gastric Bypass $ 8,796.00
- Gastric Sleeve $ 9,699.00
Please note that if any additional tests, treatments or a longer stay at the hospital are required due to pre-existing conditions and illnesses such as diabetes, high blood pressure, neumopathy, etc., appropriate additional charges will be incurred.
