As part of its Professional Development Doctors Bernal and de la Pena maintained close ties with various Medical Associations such as the American College of Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Surgeons and the Mexican College of Obesity Surgery and Metabolic Diseases, being the most prominent, recognized and distinguished Surgeons from Mexico. Both Doctors concentrated more than 20 years of professional experience in several areas, offering this expertise to their Bariatric Surgery patients.
Their practice is innovative and pioneering in the field of Bariatric, Gastroenterology and Laparoscopy Surgery. Currently they focus in the field of Bariatric Surgery including Gastric Sleeve, Gastric Bypass and Gastric Band or Lap-Band® Procedures for control and management of obesity in the long run.
 Dr. Bernal has the distinction of being former President of the Mexican Association of General Surgery which representing all Mexicans Surgeons globally. Only the most talented, qualified and experienced Surgeons are appointed to lead and represent their National Surgery Community.
Doctors Bernal and de la Pena have occupied the Chief of Surgery position of the most important hospitals of their community and have participated in multiple chairs, have published a large quantity of articles and has served on numerous councils.
